It has been Queensland Government's builder for over 160 years, playing an important role in communities across the state by building and maintaining government-owned assets such as schools, social housing, police stations and correctional and health facilities.About the roleYou will play a pivotal role in supporting QBuild's ambition to strengthen Queensland's building and construction industry by providing architectural services.Key responsibilities:
- Leading, planning and managing assigned projects to meet the business unit's commercial goals.
- Performing the role of experienced architectural practitioner by providing high quality professional expertise in all aspects of the business unit's professional services.
- Providing a high level of architectural expertise and technical capabilities in the coordinated delivery of projects, by multidisciplinary professional teams, within the time and financial requirements of the commercial business unit.
- Preparing terms of reference and assisting with the commissioning of external consultants for capital works building projects, monitoring their performance, and reviewing their work
- Reviewing variations and claims for additional fees submitted by external consultants and providing advice on their validity and extent.
- Undertaking the role of Project Architect or Principal Consultant on projects, as assigned to the position, including projects for Social Housing clients.
- Assisting with the use and integration of new technological advancements in the delivery of professional services within the department.
- Embracing innovative methods and techniques in passive building design.
- Conversing with techniques and construction methodologies for the cost-effective layout, functional planning and spatial organisation of high quality, value for money buildings.
- Assisting and commissioning of external consultants in the application of the Design Standards and Guidelines of the client agencies and client's direction in value for money and environmental sustainability initiatives.
- Representing the interests of client agencies/ departments in situations involving consultant commissions, auditing of documentation, and on-site construction phases to ensure project feasibility and design reflects client requirements.

- Mandatory Requirement - Registration as an Architect in the state of Queensland, in accordance with the requirements of the Architects Act of 2002.
