Carbon markets present a unique strategic opportunity for the Group. It is aligned to strategy to lead Australia’s transition by providing corporates, businesses, project developers and individuals the ability to measure, reduce and offset their carbon footprints. Their vision is to play a leadership role in accelerating the growth of a more liquid and transparent carbon market in Australia, including through the direct financing and scaling of carbon sequestration projects and nature based solutions.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Conducting financial, operational and physical due diligence on greenfield and brownfield carbon projects across Australia and New Zealand.
- Structuring novel financial solutions to meet unique client needs in funding and risk managing carbon projects, including but not limited to derivative solutions, project finance, structured trade and traditional lending.
- Collaborate across teams and stakeholders internally including Sales, Trading, Risk, Operations, Legal and Governance to deliver best-in-class client outcomes in a timely fashion.
- Engaging with leadership teams and senior executives of domestic and international clients across a range of industries; comfortable building and maintaining relationships with start-ups and mid-sized corporates through to institutional investors and the largest listed enterprises.
- Maintaining a detailed and current understanding of the factors impacting environmental markets in Australia and globally, including regulation, supply and demand trends, competitor behaviour and client preferences.
- Represent the Group at industry conferences, events and working groups, providing thought leadership and unique insights to the broader marketplace.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field; advanced degree in finance or environmental science preferred.
- Extensive experience in commodity project development, derivatives markets, and structured finance; direct experience with nature-based solutions projects preferred.
- Highly proficient with financial modelling and the use of excel to build, deconstruct and analyse financial models to provide actionable commercial insights.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and proven track record of building and maintaining client relationships; existing contacts in environmental markets highly regarded.
