- Two Credit Analyst roles available to support business growth
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a motivated self-starter with solid credit analysis and interpersonal skills to join Westpac Institutional Bank in the Real Estate, Customer Insights & Analytics team, based in Melbourne.
The primary responsibility of the Credit Analyst's role is to efficiently manage a portfolio of Institutional Property and Mid-Market Property customers, including the origination process for new transactions and the ongoing monitoring and management of the customer portfolio as the primary Credit Analyst. The successful candidate will also work closely with senior analysts in the team to support them during the origination of new complex transactions.
You will collaborate with your analyst peers, product experts, and Relationship Managers to help initiate and structure a range of banking transactions. You will also be required to have an in-depth understanding of the different property sectors including Office, Industrial, Commercial, Retail, Residential Development and Accommodation. This includes providing value added research that can be used by both our customers and internal stakeholders.
Your success in this role will rely on your ability to quickly review, digest and contribute to credit analysis and transaction structuring. In addition, you will need to have strong advocacy skills and be able to influence key decision makers through your demonstrated understanding of both deal specific and property sector risks.
Your main responsibilities would include:
- Build relationships and establish rapport with clients and with internal stakeholders.
- Ensure all aspects of the credit process, including the required due diligence, are properly executed.
- Write credit submissions including detailed risk analysis and financial forecasting, and be able to present and negotiate submissions through WIB's risk management decision process.
- Test proposals against approved business and credit strategies, target market acceptance criteria and underwriting standards.
- Bring your banking experience/or depth of industry knowledge to lead and develop the team's overall expertise.

What do I need?
To be successful in this role you will have proven experience as a Credit Analyst within corporate or institutional banking, and the following:
- Experience of credit writing
- Good communication and influencing skills required to manage significant relationships with stakeholders
- Experience applying a risk mindset and commercial acumen
- Good attention to detail and operational expertise
- Client interaction / relationship management experience would be beneficial
- A relevant tertiary qualification
- Property or real estate industry experience preferred not mandatory
