We have an opportunity for a Senior Biosecurity Officer, Weeds and Aquatic Pests to be part of our Biosecurity Division within the Department of Primary Industries and Regions.
The position has a strategic and operational focus on improving policy, surveillance, and management of weed and marine pest incursions. The role is also responsible for leading incursion responses in coordination with staff in PIRSA and other agencies, including emergency fish kill responses.
The Senior Biosecurity Officer, Weeds and Aquatic Pests will ensure that specific projects and emergency response initiatives are developed, coordinated and implemented to contribute to the delivery of the South Australian Government’s commitments to the management of invasive species.

Special Conditions

  • Successful applicant will be required to satisfactorily complete a National Police Check (NPC) prior to being made an offer of employment.
  • Australian residency or current works permit is required (responsibility of applicant to provide evidence of a current work permit).
Essential Qualification
An appropriate Degree in Science, Natural Resource Management or equivalent.
Requirements
  • Possession of a current driver’s licence and willingness to drive.
  • Out of hours work and inter / intrastate travel may be required.
  • You acknowledge your work, health and safety obligations and our expectations.
  • The incumbent will be required to undertake emergency management training and must be willing to participate in emergency preparedness, response and recovery activities required by government agencies.
Remuneration
PO3 - $99,788 min - $105,495 max per annum, plus superannuation
