Eligibility: Open to EveryoneWe have an opportunity for a Senior Plant Biosecurity Officer, Systems to be part of our Biosecurity Division within the Department of Primary Industries and Regions.The Senior Plant Biosecurity Officer (Systems) contributes to the goals and objectives of the Plant Health program by supporting the planning, delivery, review and reporting of relevant plant health programs, activities, and outcomes, particularly in market access, systems support, and statistical reporting.In this capacity the position plays a key support role for the Manager, Market Access, and Systems, in the delivery of Interstate Certification Assurance objectives, and in the conduct of complex bi-lateral negotiations on market access.The Senior Plant Biosecurity Officer (Systems) supports ongoing effective regulatory compliance and market access by contributing to the development, management and improvement of a systems approach, and systems, that facilitate effective Plant Biosecurity arrangements in relation to trade and movement of plant and plant material. This includes monitoring and maintaining Plant Health’s requirements and involvement with PIRSA’s emergency management software, providing administrator and user support to plant health staff for PIIMS (Primary Industries Information Management System), conducting Global Positioning Systems (GPS) and GIS mapping activities and developing and implementing an effective audit and compliance system for the cultivation of genetically modified crops.About UsSouth Australia is internationally recognised for the quality of its agriculture, food, and wine.   • Successful applicant will be required to satisfactorily complete a National Police Check (NPC) prior to being made an offer of employment.
  • Australian residency or current works permit is required (responsibility of applicant to provide evidence of a current work permit).
  • Opportunity up to December 2025
  • Desirable: An appropriate Degree in science, or equivalent.
  • Desirable: Certificate IV in Government (Statutory Investigation and Enforcement).

  • Possession of a current driver’s licence and willingness to drive.
  • Out of hours work and inter / intrastate travel may be required.
  • Australian residency or current works permit is required (responsibility of applicant to provide evidence of a current work permit).

  • The incumbent will be required to undertake emergency management training and must be willing to participate in emergency preparedness, response and recovery activities required by government.
