Abbotsleigh has a long and proud tradition of boarder students dating back to 1885, when Abbotsleigh was first opened by Marian Clarke. Today, we have approximately 120 boarders who come from country New South Wales, regional Sydney and overseas. Our boarders are an integral part of our community, providing diversity of character that adds to the rich tapestry that is Abbotsleigh.
We operate 4 separate boarding houses, for girls Years 7 – 12. We offer full and weekly boarding options to our families. Like our School, our boarding houses are vibrant and welcoming places for our girls to grow and develop into amazing young women of great character.
The Role
The Level 2 Boarding Staff is a vital member of the boarding school's residential team, responsible for ensuring the safety, well-being, and development of boarding students outside of school hours. This role involves supervision, mentorship, and providing support to students residing on campus. The successful candidates will be outstanding individuals who are highly motivated to supervise the physical, emotional, and spiritual development of the girls under their care. They will be supporting the boarding team to inspire, engage, and value every girl and ensure they have a positive experience living away from home.
Senior Boarding Assistants lead a small team of staff over the weekend and support Boarding Coordinators during weekdays. Shifts predominately cover weekends on a 3-week rotating roster and will include a Friday and/or Saturday and/or Sunday day/night shift each weekend throughout the term and may also include weekday evening shifts. Some shifts require overnight stays in the boarding house with accommodation provided. Applicants will work an average of 20 hours a week. No School holiday work is required but you will be paid over the school holiday break.
