We are seeking a Senior Business Analyst to support our Metal's Strategy Team. This role plays a crucial part in shaping portfolio options and key decisions for the Executive Team and Board to consider. The role will include engagement across the full value chain of the business at multiple levels, including teams spanning technical, operational, energy, finance, and corporate development functions.
To provide a good foundation for delivery of work, the role requires a sound understanding of how to effectively develop insights from a diverse audience, including the development of fit for purpose analytical frameworks, the synthesis of unstructured data and uncertain assumption sets, and the translation of these insights into business plan deliverables.
The successful candidate will be a highly organised individual, a natural problem-solver with strong leadership qualities, able to effectively engage and communicate with different levels in the organisation and eager to get things done.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse quantitative and qualitative information to assess complex opportunities and challenges at a project level and portfolio level.
- Provide structured critical thinking and insights to shape the development and execution of key strategic initiatives.
- Coordination of strategy development processes (for example workshop preparation / facilitation requiring the integration of diverse stakeholder groups).
- Develop and build financial models to support valuation work and business analysis.
- Contribute to building team capability and lead work to simplify processes and enhance analytical practices.
Qualifications and Experience
- Tertiary qualification in a Business / Finance / Engineering / Law or related field.
- Minimum post-qualification experience of 3 years (top tier consulting firms and/or mining experience highly valued).
- Strong foundational knowledge in strategic planning and financial / business concepts
- Exceptional critical thinking and numeracy skills with demonstrated ability to deal with uncertainty and risk.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Resilient, enthusiastic, ability to work autonomously, take initiative and reliably deliver on tight deadlines.
