Senior Client Service Officer Department of Communities and Justice Homes NSW | Murrumbidgee, Far West and Western NSW District
• Location Orange & Dubbo NSW

• Salary range: $93,295 - $102,941 - PLUS employer’s contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.

This position is open to Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people only.
Your role
The Aboriginal Senior Client Service Officer provides a broad range of applicant, tenancy and property management services and advice to clients including those with complex support needs; advocates and other stakeholders across the access and tenancy service streams; provides coaching and support to team members to optimize business and service outcomes.
The role manages relationships, partnerships and networks between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and the Department to improve communication on and access to services for clients and to support sustainable tenancies.
What you’ll do
You will be passionate about making a difference and delivering innovative solutions for people experiencing homelessness or at risk of becoming homeless. You will have a strong customer focus and a commitment to person-centred, culturally sensitive client outcomes.
The role also includes providing a broad range of applicant, tenancy and property management services and advice to clients including those with complex support needs, advocates and other stakeholders across the access and tenancy service streams. Work in partnership with other stakeholders to resolve complex tenancy issues and neighbourhood disputes; manage breach of tenancy agreements and represent DCJ Housing at the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal (NCAT).
You will be working across a range of Housing programs, policies and systems to maximise efficiency and service delivery outcomes as well as providing coaching and support to team members.
Working collaboratively with Client Service Officers, Housing Managers and Team Leaders, including internal and external service providers, you will develop innovative strategies to deliver improved client outcomes and contribute to continual improvement in achieving key performance indicators for the district.
What we’re looking for
• Work collaboratively with internal specialists and external service providers and make referrals where additional support requirements are identified to better meet client needs.
• Work in partnership with other stakeholders to resolve complex tenancy issues and neighbourhood disputes; manage breach of tenancy agreements and represent DCJ Housing at the NCAT.
• Provide advice and/ or make appropriate referrals to assist Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients with complex support and housing needs in accessing appropriate support services.
• Develop and sustain local partnerships with other providers to build stronger Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
• Promote and support the importance of cultural connections within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
• Understand how to work respectfully with Elders, Community Leaders, and families with children in kinship care, and knowing when to report conflicts of interest around extended family.

An acceptable form of documented verification is a “Confirmation of Aboriginality” letter, provided to you by a local Aboriginal organisation that includes a common seal from that organisation.
