THE ROLE

The Clinical Research Manager will play a leading role in planning, coordinating, and supervising a Clinical Research project involving the development and trial of a blended care intervention for adolescents with depression. They will bring excellent leadership and time management skills, the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a range of senior and external stakeholders including clinicians, and a creative and ‘can do’ attitude to problem solving. The successful candidate will oversee the running of a major Clinical Research project and will be accountable for ensuring that responsibilities are performed according to quality standards, budgets and timelines and that project milestones are delivered on time and to a high standard. The role will work closely with the Chief Investigators for this project and will provide project management and coordination for the blended care project. The role reports to one of the Chief Investigators (Associate Professor) and will have at least 1 direct report.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Management:

  • Lead and manage the development of the project and implementation plan to ensure successful delivery of the project within agreed timeframes, resources and budget.
  • Planning project management, including setting deadlines, prioritising tasks, and assigning team members to various deliverables.
  • Provide project reports, including budget and risk outlines, to the budget holders and funder.
  • Write clear and concise specifications, reports, project management plans, business cases, project schedules budgets and briefing notes and communicate effectively with a variety of audiences.

Research:

  • Provision of practical and efficient research support to the research team.
  • Develop the ethics applications and amendments for submission, maintaining the master study file.
  • Proactively assist with research reports, peer-reviewed publications, presentations, ethics applications and progress reports.
  • Support in the conceptualisation, design, and successful conduct of research projects related to this project, including a clinical trial.
  • Provision of administrative and clerical duties, including attendance at research meetings, preparing meeting agendas, preparing and distributing minutes, as required.
  • Monitor research protocols, provide problem solving and resolution to any evolving problems related to design, implementation and analysis.
  • Coordinate reporting activities to Data Safety Monitoring Boards and other relevant groups

Stakeholder Management:

  • Liaise with clinicians (psychologists, GPs), organisations, stakeholders and collaborators and actively participate in meetings and discussions as required.
  • Collaborate with multiple internal and external stakeholders to build effective relationships and develop project procedures and practices.
SELECTION CRITERIA
  • Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Psychiatry or related discipline, or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through a combination of education, training, or experience
  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience coordinating or working within complex research projects with clinical trial experience within health settings or health research.
  • Demonstrated knowledge, skills and ability to manage Clinical Research projects, from planning through to evaluation.
  • Knowledge of research protocols, experimental design, and planning as involved in developing research projects and reporting against milestones.
  • Experience working with e-health interventions.
  • Demonstrated knowledge, skills and ability to manage projects, from planning through to evaluation.
  • Demonstrated superior interpersonal communication skills to initiate and maintain effective stakeholder relationships whilst exercising discretion and confidentiality.
  • Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail and the ability to liaise effectively with a range of diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, but also to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands.
  • A high level of computer literacy, including Microsoft Suite, Excel, Powerpoint, and project management software.
