This role provides critical support to the young people and the clinical team at headspace Geraldton. The key responsibilities of this role include:
• Provide principal and ongoing support for students and Early Career Program graduates placed at headspace Geraldton.
• Act as a mentor to newly qualified clinicians and help integrate learnings into practice, building skills, confidence, and resilience for long term careers. Working as a Team with the headspace Geraldton leadership group.
• Ensure adequate orientation for students and graduates, including all headspace policies, service delivery model, and appropriate integration to the headspace Geraldton team.
• Engage students to gain experience and develop within a youth mental health service.
• Work closely with the Clinical Lead and under the direction of the Centre Manager to participate in the continuous improvement of services.
• Provide a range of youth mental health interventions working with young people with mental health presentations, their families, and friends, ranging from single session interventions through to longer term therapies.
• Conduct assessments with young people and their families and friends using agreed clinical tools to determine services required by the young person.
• Deliver evidence-based brief interventions, including group interventions, psychoeducation, and skills training, with young people and their families.
Experience and qualifications
• Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (i.e., Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or Mental Health Nursing)
• Membership with an appropriate professional body.
• Minimum 3 years' clinical experience post qualification and be eligible to provide clinical supervision.
• Demonstrable experience delivering mental health support, services or programs to young people, their families, and friends. With a passion for working with young people and communities.
• Passion and knowledge for leadership, mentoring and developing others.
• Experience in engaging with young people from 'at risk' populations including LGBTQIA+ and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people.
• Experience and capacity to be able to troubleshoot, deliver and create clinical programs.
• Capacity to make timely and considered clinical or operational decisions.
• A working knowledge of the headspace model
• 'C' Class Driver's Licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
