About the Role
An exciting opportunity to apply your strategic and tactical communications expertise as part of our Regional External Affairs team by developing, managing and contributing to a range of initiatives, and helping create a compelling narrative to support our position as an industry leader across our Australian locations.
In this role reporting to our Australian Communications Manager, you will focus primarily on developing and implementing best practice internal communications to build and maintain an informed and supportive workforce. You will be responsible for planning, content development and delivery of internal communications, as well as providing expert communications advice on internal communications opportunities and risks.
You will be required to drive clear, coordinated and consistent messaging across our Australian offices and sites, optimising existing internal channels and identifying opportunities to enhance communications outcomes. You will also be required to work closely with leaders across the business to effectively communicate key projects, events, goals and strategies.
Working with the Corporate Affairs team you will support delivery of broader functional accountabilities including:
External Communications: Deliver best practice external communications including maintaining our website, creating briefing notes, speeches, and presentations.
Issue and crisis management: Develop and implement proactive and reactive issues and crisis management strategies and communications particularly in relation to environmental performance, sustainability, health and safety, and community impact.
Media relations: Develop and implement communications tools including media responses, media holding statements, media releases, social media posts, and advertising.
Branding & Events: Assist with implementing our brand standards and delivering events across our business and host communities.

What you can bring to the role:
Tertiary qualifications in media/journalism, public relations, communications, and/or related fields.
Extensive corporate affairs skills and experience, particularly in internal communications.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills that allow you to successfully convey complex matters to a range of audiences.
Planning and project management skills would be advantageous.
Knowledge of the resources sector and Alcoa's geographical and socio-political setting in WA is desirable.
Flexibility to travel in Western Australia and work outside normal office hours to collaborate with global stakeholders.
With a demonstrated competency using the following: Microsoft Tools, including SharePoint for intranet, Graphic design tools, for example Canva, InDesign, Digital newsletters, for example Microsoft Sway.
Current WA Drivers License.
