About the role
This is a new key function within the MIA which will be responsible for Communications and member engagement. Strong marketing and sales skills are a must.
The position of Senior Communications and Engagement Officer works collaboratively with key functional managers to provide a range of marketing, communications, digital and content marketing activities. It also includes member engagement activities with periodic travel interstate. This role reports directly to the Education and Membership Manager.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks
- Developing and implementing a communications strategy for the MIA.
- Collaborating across all functions including CPD, Events, Membership, Advocacy and the CEO to implement engagement strategies for internal and external communications.
- Creating compelling copy and content across various channels such as social media, web pages, emails, press releases, and advertising materials.
- Upholding brand guidelines, ensuring consistency in messaging, tone, and visual elements across all communication channels.
- Managing the MIA’s Facebook, LinkedIn and Google accounts including related ad platforms.
- Implementing and monitoring a marketing budget to ensure financial resources are strategically allocated across channels for maximum impact and ROI.
- Monitoring, analysing and reporting on performance of campaigns and communication outputs using relevant metrics and tools.
- Creating member-driven content by speaking to members and attending member events to record stories, take photos and develop video footage.
- Engaging with 50+ corporate member accounts face-to-face where possible with the decision maker(s) to acquire insights and implement improvements to grow corporate accounts overall.
- Assisting with and implementing member engagement tasks or activities where necessary.
Qualifications and experience
- Strong copywriting, proofreading and editing skills
- Proficiency in digital, email and social media marketing
- Proficiency in using content management systems (CMS) and digital marketing tools
- Previous experience in sales or business development
- Tertiary qualification in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Advertising or related discipline
- Experience working with membership-based Associations preferred
- Experience using iMIS preferred
