Purpose of the role
Reporting to the Media & Corporate Communication Manager, we have an exciting opportunity to help set the strategic media agenda for one of the largest customer owned banks in Australia. You will be responsible for identifying and maximising opportunities to tell NGM Group’s story in the media, driving positive outcomes for the organisation and supporting our organisational strategy and broader communication objectives.
What will your key responsibilities include?
- Delivering proactive media campaigns across NGM Group’s footprint, including through identifying new opportunities and finding new ways to drive interest in ongoing projects and partnerships, is a key deliverable.
- Developing accurate and highly engaging written materials including but not limited to media statements/releases, speeches, thought leadership, presentations, opinion pieces, reports and briefs, online content, and other assets for internal and external audiences across multiple channels.
- Manage incoming media enquiries, while building effective relationships with key media outlets and journalists, providing highly responsive and proactive support and participate in media on-call rostering for out of hours enquiries if required.
- Create compelling multimedia content to support campaigns and projects, including video and web content.
- Take action to support the reputation of NGM Group and ensure all communication is in line with the purpose, ambition and values of the organisation.
What are we looking for?
- Tertiary qualifications and more than five years’ experience in media, communications, and/or PR or equivalent demonstrated industry experience in a related field.
- Frontline media relations is a core competency of yours, with proven experience proactively pitching to and engaging with media to achieve positive outcomes.
- A practiced communicator, you have highly developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across a range of channels and audiences.
- An intuitive and creative thinker, you have experience developing compelling and engaging content – including multimedia content.
- You have proven experience planning, developing, executing and measuring the effectiveness of Corporate Communication that supports strategic and operational business activities.
- Strong interpersonal skills is a strength, including the ability to work with and influence both internal and external stakeholders.
- A critical thinker, you aren’t derailed by a change in plans as you naturally adapt, stay calm when problems and issues arise, and work to implement alternatives.
