About the role:

Service Delivery Transformation Command (SDTC) is a specialist area within Victoria Police that works across the organisation to design, develop and implement a new service delivery model and operating model that will better enable Victoria Police to serve the community by:

• improving outcomes for victims,
• releasing resources to increase presence and visibility of frontline police,
• better manage demand and reduce the duplication of effort,
• making best use of information, diverse expertise and technology,
• partnering with the appropriate range of key stakeholders, and
• integrating more effectively with the wider service sector.

SDTC is seeking a collaborative and strategic Senior Communications Officer. Reporting directly to the Superintendent, Service Delivery Office (SDO), this role will develop and oversee the implementation of communications plans and strategies to meet the organisational priorities and strategic objectives of the Service Delivery Transformation Command.

About the role:

Part of a team responsible for implementing strategic transformational projects within Victoria Police, this position will be responsible for the development and implementation of communications policies and procedures to improve the effectiveness of communication within Victoria Police and externally with stakeholders. This position will provide high level support and advice across the organisation on all aspects of media and communications activities.

Using your excellent stakeholder relationship management skills, judgement and strong negotiation skills, you will influence outcomes and constructively manage stakeholder issues to ensure positive outcomes for stakeholders and the Command.

This position must have a demonstrated record of achievement at a senior level in planning, project management and managing the implementation of communications programs within a large, complex environment as well as demonstrated experience in monitoring and evaluating projects as part of continual improvement.

Your duties will include:

• Developing communications plans and strategies for internal and external engagement in line with organisational priorities.
• Supporting and advising stakeholders across the organisation on all aspects of media and communications activities.
• Monitoring service delivery targets and delivery against key milestones.
• Preparing status updates for Superintendent SDO and other stakeholders on progress against key milestones.
• Identifying and actively managing emerging communications opportunities, issues and risks.
• Working collaboratively with and negotiating with stakeholders within the Region/Department/Command.

As the successful applicant, you will have:

• Expertise in analysis, conceptualisation, written communication and presentation skills, tailored to a variety of audiences.
• Experience (and a record of achievement) in planning, project management and implementing communications programs within a large, complex environment.
• Experience in project monitoring, evaluation and continuous improvement.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills.
• Excellent time management skills and ability to self-motivate.
• Strong integrity and discretion.

Requirements and relevant information:

• One (1) x full-time, fixed-term position available to 30 June 2026.
• This position is located at Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands, Melbourne, VIC 3008.
