RISSB provides industry and governments with the systems expertise and technical underpinning that drive ongoing improvements in the standards of safety, productivity and sustainability for Australian and New Zealand Rail. RISSB is the only accredited Standards development organisation for the rail industry in Australia. RISSB Standards are Australian Standards.
RISSB is responsible for other documents, tools, and services that promote and improve railway industry standardisation, harmonisation, efficiency, interoperability, and safety in Australia. These include the provision of technical services consulting, rail safety training and accredited courses, industry events and conferences, and railway safety data tools, including the Australian Rail Risk Model (ARRM).
About the role:
Due to growth within the RISSB team, a newly created opportunity for a Senior Communications Specialist is now available on a permanent, full-time basis. Reporting to the General Manager Strategy and Stakeholder Engagement, the Senior Communications Specialist will be a valued team member that will manage communications, events and the RISSB communication channels as well as supporting the General Manager.
As the Senior Communications Specialist, you will be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of the Communication Plan and in leveraging communications across all RISSB’s communication channels to engage its members, stakeholders and the wider rail industry audience.
Key responsibilities include:
- Support the delivery of a high-quality communications program for members and stakeholders that adds value to the RISSB membership, enhances the RISSB reputation and supports the adoption of RISSB products.
- Support the development and refinement of the RISSB’s Communication Strategy and Plan.
- Management of the brand and its value proposition.
- Development of briefing papers and reports.
- Implementation of its events calendar including regular webinars, conferences and workshops.
- Management of RISSB’s external communications to members and the rail industry including newsletters and EDMs.
- Maintain RISSB’s marketing and engagement collaterals.
- Management of RISSB’s website and content development.
- Manage RISSB’s social media presence.
- Oversight of the RISSB’s contact database and CRM.
- Management and oversight of communications metrics and analytics.
About you:
We're searching for a dynamic Communications Specialist with over 5 years of experience in both traditional and digital media. You should have a proven ability to develop strategic communications plans and execute them with precision. Your toolkit should include proficiency in Microsoft Suite, WordPress, Canva, e-marketing platforms like Vision 6, and Adobe Creative Suite, or you should be able to quickly master these tools.
You will excel in writing, creating impactful PowerPoint presentations, and managing social media content. The successful candidate will have excellent time management, and the ability to work under tight deadlines are essential. You are a self-starter who values independence but thrives under supportive leadership, and you're adept at working in a team that spans multiple locations.
You will be a strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills, and you must be comfortable representing RISSB at all levels and relish opportunities for collaboration in a shared service environment.
