Senior Community Engagement specialist, Contract role 3-6 months

The Engagement Officer plays a vital role in ensuring the Council is positioned as a high-profile, innovative and effective organisation. This position produces quality, effective communications and engagement plans and materials, and promotes authentic engagement practices. This position ensures the Council's communications and engagement materials are professional, consistent, and in line with the Waverley Council brand.
- Provide engagement advice on a range of complex social and community issues
- Facilitate Community Engagement activities and events, informing decision-making through the provision of accurate, timely and clear information and resources
- Work as part of the Communications and Engagement team and partner with other areas of Council to ensure professionalism in all communications and engagement collateral.
- Coordinate, draft and edit interesting, accurate and well-designed internal and external communications materials.
- Maintain and update Council's website, intranet and social media platforms.
- Guide and support the delivery of effective and comprehensive consultation techniques from project inception to post-project review.
Essential Criteria
1. Tertiary qualifications in communications or a related field.
2. Minimum three years' experience in Community Engagement/multidisciplinary communications teams dealing with a diverse range of stakeholders.
3. High level competency in the application of IAP2 principles and experience in the facilitation of Community Engagement design, delivery and evaluation.
4. The ability to engage with diverse communities of interest and to appreciate competing points of view.
5. Proven ability to assist in the planning, coordination, and implementation of effective communication and Community Engagement strategies and events.
6. Highly developed communication skills with a proven capacity to influence diverse stakeholders and facilitate meaningful engagement.
7. Sound appreciation of the dynamic environment in which local authorities operate.
8.A positive approach to working cooperatively with others and within a team.
9. Understanding of and commitment to EEO.
