As the Senior Community Safety Advisor, you will provide leadership and expert electrical safety advice to key internal and external stakeholders and Community groups, enabling Powerlink to deliver, monitor and maintain our community electrical safety strategic objectives and legislative obligations. A key part of your role will be managing the strategic alliances with external stakeholders and major industry groups to support and align community electrical safety initiatives and events.

Specifically, you will:

  • Provide strategic support to the Manager Electrical Safety for the development and implementation of the Powerlink Community Electrical Safety Awareness Plan (CESAP) to use innovative, evidence-based approaches to drive improvements in community electrical safety awareness and risk mitigation.
  • Motivate, mentor and lead multi-disciplinary streams within Powerlink towards the achievement of the organisation's Community Safety strategic goals including meeting customer and community needs is central to the vison and purpose of the organisation.
  • Lead and maintain collaborative relationships across industry and the community to engage key stakeholders including Government, Unions, External Suppliers, Customers and Council Groups.
  • Provide expert community electrical safety advice to Powerlink engineers, asset managers, project managers and internal stakeholders to support the improvement of the Powerlink network’s asset electrical safety.
  • Accountable for anticipating and acting on trends and changes which may have an impact on Community Safety.

The community you will join

Based in Brisbane, you will be joining our Electrical Safety team, part of the broader Health, Safety and Environment business. This team thrives on a culture of high performance, where each member’s dedication to excellence is complemented by a strong emphasis on collaboration, ultimately fostering a dynamic and achievement-oriented environment.

Your expertise

  • Degree level qualifications in Workplace Health and Safety or a related field or lesser qualification with extensive experience in a high voltage electrical network environment
  • Queensland Electrical License as Electrical Fitter Mechanic or Linesperson
  • Certification IV in Training and Assessment
  • Lead Auditor Qualifications and current driver’s licence

We’d also love you to have:

  • Significant experience in an engagement, business development or account management role or similar position commensurate with the networking and relationship development requirements of this role
  • Experience in the application of electrical safety legislation and principles including risk management within the workplace
  • Demonstrated high level communication and negotiation skills in order to effectively build and sustain positive relationships with key stakeholders, external stakeholders and team members.
  • Demonstration of a high level of electrical technical proficiency and an understanding and knowledge application of Work Health and Safety and Electrical Safety legislation, professional standards governing safety and electrical entity management.
  • Extensive experience in working with internal clients to deliver electrical safety initiatives.
