Our Commonwealth government client is responsible for the regulation of gas and electricity markets in Australia. They are seeking to engage a Senior Compliance Officer at the APS6 level to join their Compliance and Enforcement Branch. The successful candidate will undertake regulatory assessments, draft a wide range of written material and manage incoming enquiries in the team’s inbox.
An initial labour hire contract until mid-late July 2024 is on offer, with possible extension up to 12 months.
This role can be undertaken in Canberra, Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, with flexible working arrangements available.

Duties:
- Undertake authorisation assessments
- Draft written material for a wide audience including correspondence, minutes, briefings, and Committee and Board papers
- Keep accurate, thorough and functional records, including capturing documents in information management systems and updating systems and reports
- Work flexibly as part of teams, across multiple projects in a geographically dispersed work environment
- Help to manage the group mailbox and respond to enquiries in a timely manner
Requisite skills/experience:
- Knowledge and demonstrated experience in compliance, investigations or enforcement work, preferably within a government regulatory environment
- Knowledge or understanding, or the ability to quickly acquire an understanding, of the Australian energy sector
- The ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both written and oral, with a range of people
- Tertiary qualifications in law, economics/commerce, public policy, or related fields
