About the role
Do you thrive in a continuous learning, hands-on and creative environment? As a Senior Control System Engineers with WesCEF, no two days are the same. You will have the opportunity to directly influence improvement and optimisation of our operations by providing technical support and supporting the AAN operations to deliver manufacturing and cost targets through reliable plant operation and process efficiencies.
This is a role where working collaboratively with a range of operators, Process engineers, E&I engineers, E&I technicians, and external contractors will be essential to success. Your customer centric approach and visible safety leadership will be highly regarded.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Monitoring and improving reliability and performance of Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Safety Instrument Systems (SIS), industrial networks and associated hardware and software components throughout the processing plants (Yokogawa Centum VP, Prosafe RS, Honeywell APC).
- Preparation and review of DCS, PLC and shutdown system functional description
- Configuration work in Control system.
- Review MOCs to ensure designs do not compromise safety or reliability.
- Proactively identify and implement control philosophy optimization and alarm rationalisation.
- Ensure robust systems are in place and maintained for compliance with all regulatory requirements such as IEC 61511.
- Monitoring maintenance for Control System equipment, based on criticality and past performance, to ensure optimum plant availability.
- Monitor Control system performance and identify bad actors and deterioration rates.
- Provide technical guidance in the maintenance of Control System hardware and software
- Technically support and/or lead capital projects and modifications required across process plants
- Lead Management of Change processes related to the Control System function
- Participate on Risk Assessments, HAZOPs and HAZIDs as applicable.
- Ensure faults or breakdowns are diagnosed (eg. root cause failure analysis) and recommendations are implemented to avoid recurrence
Do you have the following skills and experience?
- An Engineering qualification degree in instrumentation and control recognized by Engineers Australia.
- Experience in a similar industry (petrochemical, gas processing or oil refining), involving DCS/ESD systems, PLCs and latest field instrumentation.
- Highly motivated and engaged person who thrives in an operational environment.
- Proven analytical skills that you apply to resolve business and engineering challenges.
- Programming and management experience of DCS /ESD systems and PLCs.
- Value and drive a safety culture that responds proactively to safety issues underpinned by knowledge of safe work methods and practices.
