We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Senior Credit Officer to join the team.
Position Overview:
As a Senior Credit Officer, you will play a crucial role in assessing and accepting credit in accordance with credit policy and procedures. Your responsibilities will include effectively communicating with customers and colleagues to achieve branch credit targets, acting as a backup to the Company Credit Manager, and striving to meet key performance indicators related to cash flow, days sales outstanding , and overdue accounts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect payments for trial balance ledger as per the Credit Policy and Procedure manual.
- Pursue overdue balances up to the stage of legal action, including solicitor's letters.
- Review and recommend credit limits based on customer ability to pay.
- Assess and make recommendations to set up accounts with a credit facility.
- Obtain Mercantile reports and trade references, consulting with the branch manager as needed.
- Monitor credit application processing time and assist the Company Credit Manager when required.
Key Accountabilities:
- Ensure prompt mailing of monthly statements and overdue notices.
- Contact larger accounts to ensure timely payment.
- Attend review meetings for trial balances, including Rental areas.
- Make diary notes and use electronic tools to enhance the collection of overdue accounts.
- Assist customers with credit inquiries when other credit operators are unavailable.
- Grant credit approval, revise credit limits, and handle customer queries in SAP.
Relevant Experience:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills (Lotus Notes, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Strong typing and word processing skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with excellent time management.
- Attention to detail and excellent customer service skills.
- Familiarity with operating systems such as SAP.
- Proven planning and organising ability.
- Problem-solving skills in a practical, timely, and professional manner.
- Ability to work harmoniously in a team environment while unsupervised.
