Job Description

How will I help?

Qvalent is a wholly owned subsidiary of Westpac Banking Corporation. We provide web-based software and support services that enable organisations operating in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors to streamline financial business processes. Our solutions cover accounts receivable, accounts payable, superannuation and payroll event reporting.

As a Cyber Security Specialist at Qvalent, you will play a critical role in safeguarding our organisation's digital assets, infrastructure, and sensitive information from cyber threats. You will work in a team and use your expertise in maintaining our external security compliance certifications, including PCI-DSS, ISO27001, Gateway Network Governance Body, and CPS234. Furthermore, you will collaborate closely with Westpac to address the bank's internal security controls, fostering a secure and trusted partnership.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and implement robust Cyber Security strategies, policies, and procedures to protect Qvalent's digital assets, infrastructure, and sensitive information from cyber threats.
  • Participate in Qvalent's risk and compliance program, which includes the assessment, management, and mitigation of security risks in alignment with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain Qvalent's external security compliance certifications, including PCI-DSS, ISO27001, Gateway Network Governance Body, and CPS234, through regular audits, assessments, and compliance activities.
  • Work with Westpac Security Specialists to address the bank's internal security controls, ensuring alignment with Qvalent's security policies and standards.
  • Conduct security assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities, weaknesses, and areas for improvement within Qvalent's systems, applications, and processes.
  • Implement security controls and technologies to enhance Qvalent's security posture and resilience against emerging threats.
  • Monitor and analyse security events and incidents, lead incident response efforts to detect, respond to, and mitigate potential security breaches.
  • Provide guidance and support to cross-functional teams on security-related matters, promoting a culture of security awareness and compliance throughout the organisation.
  • Stay updated on the latest trends, threats, and best practices in Cyber Security, continuously enhancing your knowledge and skills through training, certifications, and industry engagement.

What's in it for you?

You'll play an important and significant part in the future of a business that has been around for 200 years and be instrumental in achieving our purpose of helping Australians succeed. So, we'll back you in the development of your career, with internal career prospects and flexible working. You'll also be backed by a fantastic team of people in a can-do, supportive structure.

What do I need?

To be set up for success in this role, you will be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience in a cyber-security role, with a focus on safeguarding digital assets, infrastructure, and sensitive information would be an advantage.

  • An understanding of industry standards and regulations, including PCI-DSS, ISO27001, CPS234, SOX and relevant governance frameworks.
  • Experience participating in security compliance certifications and audits would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of security technologies, tools, and methodologies, including intrusion detection/prevention systems, SIEM platforms, and vulnerability management solutions.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to liaise with internal teams, external partners, and regulatory bodies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on identifying and mitigating security risks and vulnerabilities.
  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM or related credentials are desirable.
