About the OPPORTUNITY
We have an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Data Engineer to join our Central Functions team based at Remotely, reporting to the Data Engineering Lead.
We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as hybrid working.
You will be responsible for the design, build and preparation of data platforms and the associated integration from systems of record to facilitate analysis, visualisation and communication of data and analytics. They also will manage key enterprise-wide the ingestion, modelling and operational analytics systems as well as provide advice and coaching on taking evidenced based approaches and undertake detailed analysis of prioritised analytics programs.
The role will interact with business and IT teams and Senior Stakeholders on a regular basis to support them and the broader business by providing guidance on building end to end data solutions to better inform the business and help with their decision-making.
Key responsibilities include:
- Development and continuous improvement of enterprise data platform for effective use of analytics and AI solutions - Working with MS Azure, Synapse, Data Fabric
- Design and manage change management of enterprise data stores and data extraction and loading
- Work with user community to ensure agreed frameworks and governance is adhered to
- Maintaining legacy apps - Oracle Data Integrator & Oracle DB
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to develop suitable data solutions in line with the data strategy and governing principles.
About YOU
- Demonstrated experience working as Senior Data Engineer with proven track record of success working on cloud based data platform and projects.
- Significant experience in designing solutions to capture, transform and analyse large and complex data sets. Azure ecosystem (Synapse/Fabric) is a must and nice to have Oracle (ODI) experience.
- Significant experience in designing and maintaining data repositories so as to allow data to be analysed quickly and efficiently within the agreed governance frameworks
- Broad experience with any of the Analytics tools (Tableau, Power BI etc.)
- Experience in designing, implementing, and extending data mart & warehouse solutions and build and maintain solutions that incorporate Machine Learning / AI
- Knowledge of CI/CD practices.
- Experience in managing and leading Data & Analytics Communities of Practice
- Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain baseline clearance
