Roster: 5:2 (Monday to Friday)
We are seeking a Senior Data Scientists to join the Integrated Operations team in initial 12 month fixed term contract with potential for extension, reporting to the Superintendent Process Control. The prime objective of the Senior Data Scientist position is to develop, maintain and optimise machine learning models and deploy them in operations to improve safety and productivity throughout Fortescue's supply chain. Typically, the models will interface with data sources such as CCTV footage and write results back to the PLC (programable logic controller) to directly interlock and influence how equipment works. This will be a hands-on role that will require high levels of familiarity with the operational aspects of processing facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Development of new machine learning models.
- Ongoing monitoring and optimisation of exiting models.
- Configuration of Linux servers.
- Development of graphical user interfaces.
- Integration with control systems or other relevant systems
- Build strong working relationships with stakeholders.
- Provide relevant information to managers, supervisors, co-workers, and employees (including in meetings, written communications, e-mail, via telecommunications and in person).
- Develop and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships within own team and across teams and individuals.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline (i.e., Data science, Computer Science or Engineering)
- Experience with image processing, image classification, object detection and image segmentation.
- Experience developing deep learning and convolutional neural networks using Tensorflow and PyTorch.
- Experience deploying machine learning models to production environment.
- Excellent proficiency with the following technologies:
- Python programming.
- Multiprocessing and multithreading with python.
- Linux (with and without graphical user interface).
- Containerization technologies like Docker, Kubernetes.
- Git
- OpenCV (Python or C++).
- Machine learning techniques, including but not limited to supervised learning, unsupervised learning, classification, regression, model selection, regularization, etc.
- Software deployment and Agile methodology knowledge.
- Experience using Confluence, Jira and Github.
- Experience in building and running DevOps or MLOps pipelines.
- Experience working deploying models and software in computer with no internet connection.
- Experience in mining and processing plant operations.
