Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Database Administrator to manage and maintain our company's database systems. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in database administration, data analysis, and database design. The Senior Database Administrator will be responsible for ensuring the security, availability, and performance of our databases, as well as developing and implementing database policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain efficient, reliable, and scalable data pipelines using coding languages such as Python, Scala, or Java.
- Administer, monitor, and optimize SQL databases, ensuring performance and security.
- Develop and implement database schemas, scripts, and stored procedures.
- Collaborate with teams to solve data-related technical issues.
- Maintain data integrity and availability across diverse platforms.
- Conduct data analysis to support business decisions.
- Implement data warehousing and perform ETL tasks, utilizing big data technologies.
- Stay abreast of trends in data engineering, database management, and big data.
- Build and maintain database systems with availability and quality appropriate to use-case.
- Optimise databases for performance, security and ease-of-use.
- Write and deploy SQL patches.
- Provide guidance and SQL support to Application Developers.
- Monitor database performance, implement changes and apply new patches and versions when required.
- Assist client facing teams to ensure client databases are available.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
- Experience as a Data Engineer and SQL Administrator.
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, Scala, or Java.
- Experience with data pipeline and workflow tools.
- Familiarity with cloud services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and big data technologies like Hadoop, Spark, or Kafka.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and team collaboration abilities.
- 3+ years of experience with SQL (MSSQL preferred)
- Windows Server experience
- Strong knowledge of and experience with index, and statistic, and execution plan management
- Experience in Backup and Recovery methods
- Microsoft SQL & Postgres
Desirable:
- Linux and AWS experience.
