About the Role:
SoftLabs is seeking Senior Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) for ICT Labour hire at their technology consulting based in Canberra.
Responsibility:
- Lead the migration of Oracle databases from version 12c to 19c, ensuring a smooth and efficient transition. This includes planning, execution, testing, and troubleshooting migration processes.
- Spearhead the Oracle uplift project to migrate existing Oracle databases to OCI. Develop and implement migration strategies that align with our cloud objectives, ensuring security, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
- Perform routine DBA tasks, including database design, performance tuning, backup and recovery, and patch management. Ensure the integrity, availability, and security of Oracle databases.
- Leverage OCI features to optimize database performance and scalability. Implement and manage cloud-based solutions, including Autonomous Database, for improved efficiency and innovation.
- Work closely with IT teams, Solutions Architects, and project managers to plan and execute migration projects. Provide expertise and guidance on Oracle technologies and cloud migration best practices.
- Document migration processes, configurations, and post-migration changes. Ensure compliance with data security and privacy policies and regulations.
Essential Criteria:
- Background as a senior Oracle Data Base Administrator Proven experience as an Oracle DBA, with extensive knowledge of Oracle database administration, version 12c and 19c. Applicants must possess a minimum of 10 years of experience as an Oracle DBA, with at least 2 years focused on database migrations and cloud technologies. Oracle DBA Certification and OCI Architect Certification are highly desirable.
- Oracle Database and Cloud Infrastructure Migration Experience Demonstrated experience in migrating Oracle databases to newer versions and to cloud environments, preferably OCI.
- Cloud Proficiency Hands-on experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and familiarity with cloud services, tools, and best practices.
- Technical Skills Strong understanding of database architecture, SQL, PL/SQL, and Oracle RAC. Experience with Oracle Data Guard, Oracle GoldenGate, and backup/recovery techniques.
- Problem-Solving Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex migration issues and optimize database performance.
- Communication and Collaboration Skills Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Desirable Criteria:
- Familiarity with Federal Government ICT.
- Oracle Database and Tools Experience.
o Minimum of 10 years of experience as an Oracle DBA, with at least 2 years focused on database migrations and cloud technologies.
o Oracle certifications and training in Oracle technologies, cloud platforms, and data base administration are highly desirable.
- SAFe and/or Agile Experience/Exposure Familiarity with SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) or other agile methodologies is a plus. Experience or exposure to agile practices will help streamline program delivery.
