Your new role
As a Senior Database Administrator, key objective is to leverage expertise and experience to optimise database performance, streamline data integration processes, and ensure seamless data flow across systems. Aim to enhance data accessibility, accuracy, and security while minimising downtime and maximising efficiency. By implementing effective database management strategies, establishing robust integration frameworks, and proactively addressing data-related challenges, contribute to the success of company by enabling data-driven decision-making and supporting scalable growth.
In this role you will,
- Manage the day-to-day activities and project activities to support the organisational data through frameworks and industry standards
- Design, develop, and maintain data integration solutions using tools such as ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) and API (Application Programming Interface) integrations.
- Manage the coordination and communication on escalations and major incidents
- Provide expert advice in data integration standards and tools, such as HL7, Informatica PowerCenter, Talend, SSIS, or similar platforms
- Ensure that data is loaded into target systems in a timely and efficient manner
- Develop and maintain documentation for data integration solutions
What you'll need to succeed
- Database tuning and management and proactively monitor system performance
- Oversee backup, clustering, mirroring, replication and Always On of databases availability groups.
- Effectively manage database growth and extensions
- Manage and audit database security
- Perform Disaster Recovery Fail-Over Testing
- Analyse and tune databases and SQL queries for optimal efficiency
- Troubleshoot and isolate performance problems in production databases.
- Long term - Service Level Agreement
- Periodic - Quarterly Performance Management Plans
- Tangible Deliverable
- Stakeholder managing plan Governance
- Strong knowledge of ETL and API integrations.
- Experience with data integration tools such as HL7, Inter Systems IRIS, or Mule Soft
- Strong understanding of databases and data structures
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Highly developed written communication skills combined with attention to detail
Desirable:
- Familiarity with data governance, data quality, and data security principles
- Experience with data warehousing concepts
- Experience with scripting languages such as Python or Bash
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies
- Knowledge of Vic Health Regulation
- Knowledge of Vic Records Management Act
