Duties
Lead, architect, implement and maintain contemporary administration of database, middleware, and Azure SaaS hosting environments.
Identify, define, and develop recommendations to improve the delivery of complex activities and respond to emerging developments.
Provide specialised consultative advice including recommendations relating to the planning, design, building, auditing, security, quality assurance and deployment of corporate applications across all technology layers.
Develop and implement best practices, procedures, and standards together with supporting policies and documentation within a small team to support data management, administration and application software control, and ensure the effective management of the Department’s corporate information asset holdings.
Research and analyse complex technical ICT issues and develop logical business focussed solutions that are supported by written proposals and recommendations.
Formulate strategic directions for development software and associated tools, their implications for business specific application directions, and the contracting requirements to support these services.
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with business units and software vendors and act as an effective interface between agency information providers, business units and data custodians.
Develop and prepare written proposals and recommendations for the resolution of highly complex Information, Communications and Technology (ICT) issues for, but not limited to, business specific application directions, data modelling tools, source code management, design and coding practices, application acquisition and development strategy, and system development toolkits and methodologies.
Represent the department in areas of expertise as well as liaise, negotiate and influence outcomes internally and externally on complex issues.
Desirable Requirements
Relevant tertiary qualifications or industry recognised qualifications in information science or a related discipline.
A current full car driver licence
Extensive working experience in Oracle Database administration
Experience with the Microsoft Windows, Oracle Solaris, and Linux operating environments
Familiarity/experience with Azure hosting architecture design
Experience and knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, Web Services, Java application servers such as JBoss Application server and Apache Tomcat
