Senior Development Assessment Planner

Situated an hour south of Brisbane and an hour inland from the Gold Coast is the Scenic Rim Region. A thriving rural paradise and a popular tourist destination known for breathtaking scenery including six national parks, world heritage listed Gondwana Rainforests, local produce, wineries, art galleries and state of the art equine facilities. The Scenic Rim Regional Council covers an area of 425sq km, provides services to a population of more than 40,000 and employs over 470 people.
  
The Position: The Senior Development Assessment Planner will be responsible for supporting the Development Assessment Planners as a senior member of the Development Assessment team, undertaking assessment of development applications of a higher complexity, engaging with other areas of Council on compliance and strategic planning related projects, and assisting on planning appeals.
  
Skills / Experience Required: Council is seeking an individual with the ability to mentor and guide members of the Development Assessment team, along with:

• Tertiary qualifications in Urban and Regional Planning or equivalent recognised by the Planning Institute of Australia.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the Planning Act and other relevant legislation.
• Strong experience in the area of Development Assessment with experience in processing applications of a higher complexity.
• Prior experience in Local Government will be highly regarded.
• Well-developed research and analytical skills with the ability to formulate and evaluate solutions to planning issues.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with experience in developing rapport with internal and external customers and stakeholders.
