Public Sector People are working with a local council to recruit a Senior Development Engineer for a temporary contract assignment until the end of this financial year.
The role of the Senior Development Engineer is to help build a prosperous community, supported by sustainable infrastructure and urban quality, through the provision of expert subdivision advice to the strategic planning, statutory development, subdivision and building approval processes. You will provide expert engineering assessments and advice to the strategic planning, statutory development, subdivision and building approval process.

- Temporary contract until EOFY

- $50 - $60 p/h – depending on experience

Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert oversight of the checking of Engineering Plans; Environmental Management Plans; and assessment of traffic, drainage and subdivision referrals for planning and development applications.
- Undertake the engineering assessment of town planning, subdivision and building proposals and respond to referrals with regard to Development Engineering issues
- Provide support to the Team Leader and Lead Development Engineer on all pertinent Subdivision and Development Engineering issues.
- Consider and approve all Development Engineering matters delegated to the position under Council’s Deed of Delegation.
- Respond to Development Engineering enquires on a timely basis and participate in collaborative meetings with internal stakeholders, external parties and bodies.
- Provide advice and support to planning and development staff, as required, on Development Engineering issues.
Qualifications and Experience
- Subdivisional engineering or technical qualifications or experience would be highly regarded but are not mandatory.
- A relevant degree or diploma in civil or environmental engineering; or lesser qualifications with substantial relevant experience commensurate with the requirements of the position.
- Current Professional Engineers Registration in Victoria or possession of qualifications and experience required to satisfy eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer in Victoria (as soon as eligible).
- National Criminal History Check.
- Working with Children Check.
- A current Victorian Drivers Licence is essential for the position.
