Access theAbout the roleThis role is to deliver high level nutrition and dietetic clinical services and leadership through the Primary Health Care Service, provided by Prison Health Services, to correctional centres within the West Moreton Hospital and Health Service region. Duties are of a complex and varied nature and the majority are performed with a high level of independence.The role provides high level nutrition and dietetic clinical services across the following correctional centre health services:
- Borallon Training Correctional Centre (BTCC)
- Brisbane Correctional Centre (BCC)
- Brisbane Women's Correctional Centre (BWCC)
- Helana Jones Centre (HJCC) (low secure women's located at Albion)
- Wolston Correctional Centre (WCC)
- Brisbane & West Moreton Youth Detention Centre (BYDC)
- Arthur Gorrie Correctional Centre (AGCC)
- High level knowledge, expertise and skills in autonomous workload management to deliver dietetic services, including assessment, intervention and evaluation within a multidisciplinary team in accordance with established clinical & departmental protocols, policies and procedures, utilising evidence-based practice and ethical standards.
- Ability to liaise and work effectively in a professional manner with offenders and Queensland Corrective Services, other health professionals, students, and external agencies to achieve a client centred approach, utilising negotiation, and conflict resolution skills as required.
- Ability to provide high level general and profession specific clinical advice to clinical leaders, team leaders and other multidisciplinary team members within the Prison Health Service.
- Experience in the identification, development, implementation and evaluation of quality and service improvement and/or research activities that enhance the delivery of dietetic services.
- Ability to provide nutrition and dietetic education, clinical leadership and clinical practice supervision to dietetic students.
- Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the
- Appointment to this position requires proof of a recognised degree or equivalent in Nutrition and Dietetics and be eligible for full membership with the Dietitians Association of Australia (DAA) and Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) credential. Certified copies of relevant qualification should be provided to the service director prior to the commencement of clinical duties.
