The Role
Reporting to the Design Manager, you will be working within the highly-specialised HV Engineering & Design division who are the technical experts across Yurika’s Energy and Infrastructure (E&I) business.
In this role, you will find yourself working through several responsibilities including but not limited to:
- Provide engineering consultancy services, undertaking detailed calculations and analysis, and preparing complex engineering designs, reports, and technical documents in accordance with the requirements of the Professional Engineers Act.
- Focused on achieving successful outcomes for customers through coordinating design delivery, monitoring design budgets and quality, applying safety and delivery risk management, and assisting in the development of safe, efficient, and effective solutions, across an allocated program of work.
- Develops broader team capability in HV infrastructure engineering project solutions by providing coaching and mentoring.
- Responsible for ensuring designs and any associated design information is completed in accordance with internal and external customer's requirements, utility requirements, design standards on time and within budget
- Keeps abreast of evolving, contemporary and proven technologies and solutions, and provides intelligence and expert opinion on the relevance and adoption of new technologies and systems associated with Energy Infrastructure, and the maintenance of existing, products and services as part of the companies market offering.
- Initiate and approve complex engineering design solution, reports and technical documentation involving a considerable degree of originality, ingenuity, and judgement and provide expert engineering advice in the area of HV Renewable and Hybrid Systems as input into the construction of energy infrastructure projects and energy and utility services products made available competitively into the national market.
- Responsible for development and implementation of procedures, processes, and systems.
- Assist in the preparation of engineering specifications inclusive of assessment of tenders for Design, pre contract estimation and technical support, Construction, materials, and specialist consultancy services
You have demonstrated detailed technical knowledge and experience in electrical engineering, design principles and practices, utility requirements and standards, construction, and maintenance required for HV infrastructure projects, with a sound knowledge of the associated civil and structural requirements. Furthermore, you have demonstrated knowledge of Overhead and Underground Line design, construction, and installation requirements, including substation interfaces, maintenance and operation of substation plant and equipment, and earthing systems.
Other knowledge and experience you posses include:
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Safe Design principles and Safety requirements associated with the design of HV infrastructure and associated plant & equipment, including sound knowledge of relevant Acts, Regulations, Codes of Practice and standards and their application to overhead and underground lines and HV infrastructure design.
- The ability to methodically investigate and problem solve through technological issues to make informed decisions that best fit the requirements of the client.
- Well-versed in working with and leading a team, engaging with both internal and external stakeholders with the ability to deliver win-win outcomes in difficult situations.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering acceptable for membership of Institution of Engineers Australia in the Professional Engineering category
- Registration as Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ) - or hold CPEng and be eligible to obtain RPEQ Status.
- Current ‘C’ class driver’s licence.
- 5+ years of demonstrated experience within the HV infrastructure/Transmission sector.
