Role Summary:
The Senior Electrical Engineer is a newly created opportunity based at our Pinjar Power Station site. The purpose of the role is to provide engineering support to the site operations team and undertake Engineering assignments encompassing project management, design services, conceptual technical proposals, and cost estimates.
Take the lead role in the investigation of technical problems and recommend safe, reliable, efficient, and cost-effective solutions.
As the Senior Electrical Engineer, you will provide technical, and projects support to the gas turbines and distributed generation operating unit.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Investigate plant operating/performance problems, as reported by others or observed through frequent contact with the plant, devise and recommend or initiate solutions and analyse plant failures and perform root cause analysis.
- Ensure processes and procedures are developed and maintained to meet the statutory requirements for electrical and C&I installed plant and determine, review and approve electrical maintenance work scopes.
- Plan, supervise/coordinate or carry out activities, associated with manufacture, installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance/repair of equipment and systems as required.
- Carry out technical inspection, prepare reports with recommendations and/or arrange necessary action and prepare/check/assess/coordinate designs, calculations, estimates, sketches, specifications/tenders, working drawings and schedules.
- Identify, develop and improve a comprehensive asset maintenance process, procedures and documentation for all Gas generation electrical and controls & instrumentation assets.
What you’ll bring:
- Bachelor of Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in an Engineering role.
- Experience across all electrical and C&I plant and power generation technologies with good understanding of electrical energy systems (static and rotating), high and low voltage equipment, AC/DC, protection and control and instrumentation technology.
- Sound understanding of asset management principles especially as applied to managing of ageing power generation assets and associated risks.
- Good project management skills to implement and manage contractors.
