The Position
As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be a pivotal in the analysis, design, and implementation of renewable energy projects and Embedded Networks. Leveraging your expertise in renewable energy technologies, you will play a key role in shaping the company's projects, optimising their efficiency, and ensuring they align with our business case positions. Collaboration, innovation, and technical excellence will be the hallmarks of your role as you lead renewable energy and embedded network projects and guide a team of engineers towards impactful and sustainable solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Design and Engineering
- Lead the design and engineering phases of energy projects, ensuring their technical feasibility, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards.
- Conduct thorough feasibility studies, site assessments, and modelling analyses to identify optimal design, technology selection and maximise lifecycle LCOE.
- Develop detailed engineering plans, specifications, and cost budgets for various renewable energy and embedded network installations.
- Utilise modeling and simulation tools to analyse energy systems' performance and optimize their design.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate closely with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders to ensure projects meet regulatory requirements, safety guidelines, and performance/business case objectives.
- Provide technical insights and expertise in project meetings, addressing engineering challenges and driving informed decision-making.
- Work with development and construction teams to contribute technical input for client interactions, budgets, and investment approvals.
- Technical Leadership and Mentorship
- Provide technical leadership by mentoring and guiding junior engineers, fostering their professional growth and knowledge development.
- Share your expertise through project close out sessions, documenting lessons learned, and highlighting “what good looks like” while updating internal technical documentation.
- Stay updated on the latest standards, advancements in renewable energy technologies and industry trends, and disseminating relevant information to the team.
- Work with the Design manager to build and lead a high-performing engineering team, nurturing a culture of collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Quality Assurance and Safety
- Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor quality performance and address any technical challenges and questions from construction teams.
- Collaborate with safety officers and site managers to conduct risk assessments and promote a culture a Zero Harm safety culture.
- Prioritise and champion safety in design measures throughout the project lifecycle.
- Compliance and Regulatory Adherence
- Ensure that projects adhere to relevant industry codes, standards, regulations, and permitting processes.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies as needed to secure necessary approvals and permits for project implementation.
