About the role:The
Senior Emergency Management System Strategy Officer is responsible for leading the development and implementation of the department's
Emergency Management strategic framework, planning, and roadmap across the
Emergency Management phases (Prevention, Preparedness, Response, and Recovery) and reporting requirements.They also play a vital role in facilitating the fulfillment of the department's legislative obligations and responsibilities for
Emergency Management.The role will collaborate across the
Emergency Management branch and the department to ensure that all
Emergency Management functions, systems, and processes align with the strategic direction of
Emergency Management.

- Work across the Emergency Management branch and the department to ensure all Emergency Management functions, systems and processes aligns with the Health Emergencies Subplan, health doctrine and readiness response.
- Lead projects from the Emergency Management work programme which support the enhancement of the departments and health sectors' capability and capacity to respond to health emergencies, including the state of readiness reporting framework.
- Ensure System Strategy planning and reporting is achieved through collaboration and consultation across the department, health system and Emergency Management sector
- Provide high quality advice and intelligence to inform the departments. thinking on Emergency Management strategies and frameworks and sound recommendations to senior management and government based on comprehensive research.
- Assist with the implementation of guidelines, procedures, systems and standardised practices for emergency operations
- Provide advice and lead consultative processes to assist in building capability and capacity, and inter-operability for Emergency Management across the department and the health and Emergency Management sectors.
- Research and review other organisations within and external to the State with the intent of establishing best operational practice
- Represent the department and develop strategic stakeholder relationships with industry, inter- and intra-government, not-for-profit bodies and community services organisations concerned with achieving government and departmental objectives.
- Participate on the standby roster for the Emergency Management specialist 24-hour, seven day per week capability.
- Participate on the State Emergency Managment Centre roster in the event of a state or regional tier incident or emergency response.
