Join the team

We're in search of a dynamic and seasoned Senior Employee Relations Manager to join our team and drive the development of our Employee Relations strategy across both Kmart and Target. Reporting to the Head of Employee Relations & Advisory, you'll lead a team of two Employee Relations Advisors.

You will have a broad spectrum of responsibilities, ranging from enterprise bargaining to leading strategic projects, including engaging in workplace relations lobbying and ensuring compliance. You will also play a vital role in complex individual workplace matters (e.g. complex workplace investigations and disciplinary matters) and litigation. Your expertise and advocacy skills will be pivotal in safeguarding Kmart Group's organisational interests and upholding our commitment to excellence.

What you'll be doing:

As a Senior Employee Relations Manager, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Enterprise Bargaining: Lead the delivery of enterprise bargaining activities, mitigating associated risks and delivering commercial outcomes aligned to the corporate plan and strategy. Manage bargaining disputation and industrial action with minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Strategic Partnership: Partner with key stakeholders to develop and execute ER strategies that support business initiatives and projects, ensuring alignment with corporate plan and strategy, our values and delivering optimum business and ER outcomes.
  • Compliance and Documentation: Lead ER compliance activities, including Payroll auditing, Respect at Work initiatives and training. Develop, review and implement ER related documentation, ensuring both compliance and best practices.
  • Litigation and Advocacy: Manage employment law litigation across the Kmart Group, providing strategic and commercial legal advice on a range of employment law matters. Represent our brands at tribunals and provide advocacy where necessary.
  • Continuous Improvement: Benchmark and review our ways of working to ensure readiness for changes in case law and best practices, continuously striving for improvement and innovation.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A minimum of 7 years' experience in ER/IR within a large-scale organization.
  • Proven experience in end-to-end enterprise bargaining processes.
  • Strong track record of developing and implementing strategic ER plans.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage, collaborate and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Sound understanding of employment law and its practical application.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, with competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, with a focus on driving results and fostering a collaborative team culture.
