As a member of the Canstar Blue Content & PR team, the Senior Energy Specialist leads the production of Energy content, including selecting, writing, editing, monetising and publishing content in the news, research, ratings, awards and other content categories
The role assists the Utilities Editor in providing editorial input into the creation and implementation of new Energy-related digital products, marketing and PR campaigns and provides expertise on Energy sectors, products and services to the broader Canstar Group.
With the Utilities Editor, the role is also responsible where required for brand ambassadorship of the Energy verticals in media/PR and marketing and represents the Energy vertical in interactions within the Energy sector and with Energy clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake the production of new and updated Energy content, exercising expertise in judgement on news/consumer value and monetisation/revenue opportunities
- Seek opportunities to increase the efficiency of Energy content production through Content, Product, Tech or other avenues, with a view to maintaining and increasing consumer value while optimising production practices and monetisation
- Assist the Utilities Editor in exploring new content areas or verticals to support the implementation of new digital products and services
- Assist the Utilities Editor in working with Group SEO to monitor the performance of Energy content in SEO and other channels and seek opportunities for optimisation to improve traffic and revenue performance
- Ensure manual and dynamic pricing and product information is accurate and up-to-date and seek assistance to ensure accurate and timely updates where required
- Where required, work with the Consumer Editor and Digital Marketing Specialist to conceive, plan and execute Energy-related social media content including creative and video
- Increase a list of advanced, specialist Energy contacts and clients to more influential contacts, from whom to source content ideas and sector insights
- Continuously develop knowledge of the Energy sector and expertise into its products and services
- Continue to develop content production skills, with a view to editing and mentoring Content Producers.

- Degree-level qualification in Journalism, Communications, Marketing or similar
- At least five years in content production experience, ideally in a digital environment
- Experience and/or interest in one or more Energy sectors: Electricity, Gas, Solar, Green/Carbon Neutral Energy
- Proficiency in SEO in content and digital environments and the ability to contribute to SEO strategy, plan SEO projects and implement SEO recommendations
- Familiarity with Google Analytics or similar in tracking performance and developing insights for optimisations
- The ability to interpret complex research findings to identify content, media/PR or marketing opportunities
- The ability to understand content monetisation in order to drive optimum revenue outcomes
- Excellent content writing skills, with outstanding attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to work independently on multiple projects
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to optimum outcomes
- Familiarity with WordPress is desirable but not essential.
