Seqwater is the Queensland Government Bulk Water Supply Authority, responsible for delivering safe, secure and cost-effective bulk water supply for more than 3.6 million people across South East Queensland.
We work collaboratively with five water retail partners, and supply directly to 1,200 irrigator customers. Seqwater also manages 26 dams across the region, works with stakeholders to support the health of water catchments, and offers recreation opportunities across the region’s dams and lakes for the community to enjoy.

About Your Opportunity
Reporting to our Community Engagement Team Leader, you will deliver best-practice community engagement strategies and provide specialist advice and leadership to contribute to Seqwater’s strategic objective of building community trust and social
licence. You will lead, coordinate and deliver the strategic engagement approach and communication plans related to minor to moderate infrastructure projects, operational changes and initiatives, water security initiatives, dam education and drive Seqwater’s approach to corporate social responsibility.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide specialist advice and leadership in the delivery of effective and efficient stakeholder relationship management plans, engagement strategies and activities that mitigate enterprise risks and advance the achievement of Seqwater’s strategic objectives and build social licence for its operations, projects and initiatives.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to develop communication and engagement plans including working collaboratively to review and enact communication activities associated with dam spilling, releases and dam safety requirements plus operational disruption plans as required.
- Lead Seqwater’s approach to corporate and social responsibility to build/maintain social licence in the communities which it operates.
- Represent Seqwater at public forums, events and presentations as required and support operational and project teams to engage with their communities, special interest groups and other stakeholders in line with best-practice engagement principles.
- Develop and manage effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including Seqwater’s stakeholder, customer and community-facing teams, the Executive and Senior Leadership teams, South East Queensland water service providers; and community groups and organisations across South East Queensland.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience (community engagement or communications).
- Experience in the development and implementation of communication and engagement strategies within a high-profile environment.
- Demonstrated experience in issues management and proven success in building relationships with the community, stakeholders and delivering in high pressure situations.
- International Association for Public Participation (IAP2) certification (desirable).
This position has a salary range of $113,473.64 - $123,457.70 (dependent on experience) plus 12.75% superannuation.
