Eden Ritchie is seeking a Senior Engagement Officer who will be part of the Partnerships and Engagement Team that provides communication and engagement support to the Emergency Animal Disease Preparedness project.

- Develop and support stakeholder engagement, communication and education projects from inception to approval, implementation and evaluation.
- Manage the delivery of communication and engagement projects using project planning and management techniques.
- Undertake multiple-audience or broad-scope stakeholder analytics and audience segmentation research under limited guidance. Apply research findings to contribute to the evaluation and strategic planning of communication and engagement strategies and programs.
- Develop communication and engagement products such as training packages, website information, newsletters, magazine articles, factsheets, and other materials that are in line with Biosecurity Queensland’s engagement strategy and the department’s communication and engagement requirements.
- Draw on respected and tested engagement and communication models addressing a wide range of communication activities including but not limited to issues and crisis management and public and stakeholder education.
- As applicable to the business context maintain a watching brief over trends in community and industry forums, social media, news media discussions, provide timely advice about emerging issues and opportunities and on this basis prepare appropriate strategies for management.
- Lead stakeholder engagement activities for Biosecurity Queensland.
- Under limited direction, negotiate and communicate with designated stakeholder groups on behalf of Biosecurity Queensland within department guidelines.
- Contribute to the development of team planning processes and the maintenance and evaluation of policies, procedures and systems needed to ensure effective stakeholder engagement practices and outcomes across the program.
- Support emergency responses from the state emergency response centre or as directed by the position’s manager.
- Possess or be able to quickly attain a sound working knowledge of Queensland’s disaster management arrangements and national biosecurity preparedness and response frameworks.
- While there are no mandatory qualifications for this role, experience in project management, stakeholder engagement and communication would be favourably regarded.
- An understanding of biosecurity response activities and the Queensland Disaster Management Arrangements and/or experience in applying your capabilities in a response environment will be highly regarded.
