Access theSignificant reform is underway in Queensland. The Information Privacy and Other Legislative Amendments Act 2023 (IPOLA Act) amends the Information Privacy Act 2009 (IP Act) and the Right to Information Act 2009 (RTI Act), to improve transparency and accountability of Queensland agencies and strengthen privacy protections available to individuals.The OIC will implement the reforms and support agencies with preparation and compliance.The Senior Training and Engagement Officer is critical to the successful roll out of the reforms. The role will design, develop and facilitate independent, expert Training and Engagement to Queensland government agencies about how to interpret and administer changes arising from the IPOLA Act.As this is a unique and significant opportunity to contribute to the success of the implementation of the IPOLA Act, we are looking for someone with:

  • Extensive, proven skills in Training and education, including preparation of training plans, presentations and resources, and facilitation/delivery of training.
  • Experience in administrative law, with experience in working with the RTI Act, IP Act or comparable privacy legislation.
  • Ability to work with others, including subject matter experts.
  • Enthusiasm to drive Training and education across Queensland and respond to feedback to continuously improve the training services provided.
This is a temporary full-time opportunity for 12 months.Key responsibilities
  • Contribute significantly to the design, development, assessment, and evaluation of effective Training and Engagement materials including presentations and supporting information, exercises, and videos, working closely with subject matter experts and stakeholders.
  • Deliver structured training, in-person and online, both independently and with subject matter experts.
  • Coordinate the administrative and logistical requirements of a multi-channel Training and Engagement program, including local environmental assessments to determine the availability of facilities and equipment to support training delivery, and liaising internally to coordinate necessary resources.
  • Proactively manage continuous improvement activities, leading the coordination and collation of the training evaluation program, proactively seeking feedback to understand user needs and expectations, developing and implementing holistic improvements in response to learnings.
  • Manage accurate record keeping for the Training and Engagement program, delivering reports on activities including completion rates, achievement of learning objectives and outcomes.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and timeliness, working collectively and independently to deliver agreed project outputs or outcomes.
  • Build positive and productive networks and partnerships, providing professional leadership, guidance, and support.
  • Actively contribute to a culture of respect, innovation, and continuous improvement.
