The business is known for brands such as TUFF Bullbars, Ultimate Truck Bullbars and TUFF Coatings. TUFF is also a leading supplier of four wheel drive accessories and upgrades, providing a one-stop-shop for complex vehicle builds and fleet fit outs. TUFF has over 100 employees and has grown significantly in the past three years. TUFF commenced operations in North America in December of 2023 and with major expansion expected in the coming three years, a new vacancy has arisen for a Senior Engineer to assist with research and development and product improvement.
About the role:
We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the engineering team at our headquarters facility in Toowoomba or our new manufacturing facility in Narangba, Brisbane.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will help direct a highly efficient team of Mechanical Engineers. This is a business-critical role playing a key part in TUFF’s growth strategy and future success.
Duties:
- Prepare drawings in Solidworks, review and approve new designs.
- Maintain and administrate PDM.
- Help with the development of new products.
- Identify engineering improvements to increase efficiency.
- Responsible for planning and managing projects, work packages and team members from initial planning, concept, and brief, through to design, review, and approval.
- Demonstrate a high degree of technical knowledge, providing oversight and supervision to ensure successful project delivery.
- Provide mentoring and training to develop less experienced Mechanical Engineers.
- Provide positive contributions to our team culture.
This role will suit a person who is highly proficient in Solidworks.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years in Mechanical Design Engineering.
- Strong understanding of Australian engineering codes and standards.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and a creative approach to overcoming engineering challenges.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and designers.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey mechanical engineering outcomes with suitable language that can be understood by clients, stakeholders, and other engineering disciplines.
- Strong project management abilities, including coordinating team efforts and adhering to project timelines.
- Be proficient in the supervision of subordinate personnel.
- Efficiently assist in allocating engineering design and drafting resources to meet deliverable dates and man-hour budgets for timely deliverables ensuring project schedules are met for areas of assigned work.
Desirable:
- CPEng and RPEQ, or actively working towards (highly regarded).
- Strong understanding of sheet metal designs.
- Production and welding experience.
- An interest in 4WD products.
- Interest in technological advancements.
