About the OPPORTUNITY
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Engineer – Design Assurance to join our Hunter Class Program based at Adelaide or remotely, reporting to the Design Assurance Manager.
We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight and hybrid working.
You will be responsible for working within the Design Assurance team, managing activities and processes to provide assurance to the customer as the design matures that the HCF:

• Has the right design (i.e. requirements have been met by an optimum solution)
• Has been designed right (i.e. the conduct of the design and the evidence underpinning it is sound).

You will manage the development of the assurance processes through the engineering lifecycle of the Hunter Class Frigate. You will support the Design Assurance Manager to ensure that the Engineering Framework is reflected in engineering processes used throughout the design and build lifecycle.
Key responsibilities include:

• Support the Design Assurance Manager in the conduct of the various assurance activities that assess the design maturity of the product
• Manage Design Assurance mechanisms that provide data to the Chief Engineer and Design Authorities, such as developing the associated review checklists and toolsets
• Supply guidance and support to the wider engineering team and other functions to enable the successful conduct of key assurance processes, including creating and delivering briefing sessions to stakeholders
• Lead on the strategic development of processes and adapting the assurance approach around emerging areas of technical risk in support evolving program needs
• Capture audit records, perform audits of review inputs and capture configuration management data in support of key design reviews
• Provide line management and direction to less experienced team members to support both their effective working and their development
• Maintain stakeholder relationships with counterparts on other programs
• Demonstrably working towards professional certification with a relevant professional body

About YOU

• Ability to coordinate work hours with UK stakeholders twice a week
• Exposure to Systems Engineering Lifecycle and Process management is desirable
• Experience with JIRA & Codebeamer is desirable
• Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain NV-1 Clearance
• Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations
