Covalent Lithium is a new greenfield lithium project to produce battery-quality lithium hydroxide in Western Australia. Our project is backed by the expertise and funding of our joint venture partners – SQM and Wesfarmers. The Mt Holland project consists of a mine and concentrator located south of Southern Cross and a refinery at Kwinana that will produce 50,000 tonnes of lithium hydroxide once construction and commissioning is complete. Our lithium hydroxide will be exported to international manufacturers to produce over 1 million electric vehicles. This is an exciting opportunity to join a battery metals project that is driving the new energy sector in WA.

The Role
The Senior Environment Advisor is responsible for developing and implementing the environmental rehabilitation program at Mount Holland. This role will support Covalent in developing its rehabilitation capability and ensuring the operation implements projects in a scientifically rigorous manner which deliver on commitments and meets expectations of regulators and stakeholders.
This is a Permanent Full-Time FIFO position ex Perth to our Mt Holland site on an 8:6 roster.
Key Responsibilities
- Active participation in the establishment of a health and safety culture
- Lead the development and implementation of a rehabilitation program and specific work plans.
- Translate commitments made in environmental management plans, EIA documents and Mine Closure Plans into tangible rehabilitation projects.
- Engage with specialist consultants and centres of excellence on closure to support application of leading practice rehabilitation techniques.
- Build and develop productive working relationships with stakeholders (internal and external) to assist in achieving rehabilitation objectives.
- Coordinate the closure provisioning process with the finance team.
- Develop rehabilitation project budgets and business cases.
- Build internal capability within the Covalent team to enhance internal skills, knowledge, and abilities.
- Provide leadership, guidance and oversight to contractors and consultants carrying out rehabilitation works.
- Support the Environmental Superintendent with other activities in the environmental function.
Role Requirements
- Tertiary qualification in Ecology, Zoology, Botany, Natural Resource Management Environmental Science, or related discipline.
- A minimum 4 years demonstrated experience in rehabilitation planning, restoration ecology or ecological monitoring and surveying.
- Previous experience in coordinating multidisciplinary studies for mine closure planning and related disciplines.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including highly developed technical reporting skills.
