THE ROLE
As a company we are continuing to grow, with forecasted revenue of up to $400 million. Our estimating team is currently working their way through 20+ tenders across multiple sectors as Growthbuilt try to diversify their construction portfolio, project values anywhere between $20-$100 million.
As part of our Estimating team you will be working closely with our design and services teams to pull together competitive tenders. We're well resourced and share the workload across the team so most weeks you will be on top of things, but to succeed in this role you will be able to work to a deadline and manage the occasional curveball.
Your first month will have you partnering with our bids and delivery team on 10 tenders across the residential, retail, aged care, education, and health care space. As an experienced estimator you will be working fairly autonomously and have control of your own workflow - some of our team prefer to complete their own measures, but QS services are there if you need them.
What your day-to-day might look like:
- Budget Estimates -using relevant market rates from recent projects where applicable and obtaining subcontract input as required
- Lump Sum Tenders – pricing trades which will be adjusted against sub contact trade coverage where possible.
- Reviewing and analysing subcontractor quotes.
- Reviewing and pricing preliminaries and supervision & labour
- Undertaking site visits with subcontractors and assessing access, buildability and temporary services locations
- Reviewing risks and opportunities and as appropriate seeking subcontract market cover
- Looking at value engineering opportunities by evaluating the proposed outline, processes, construction management and alternative materials during estimate and/or post-estimate.
- Preparing elemental analysis against similar projects, where required
- Reconciling and analysing actual budgets against original budgets, where required
- Completing estimate review documentation and preparing information for presentation and review by management
ABOUT YOU
- Degree qualifications in Engineering or Construction Management
- Minimum 6 years post-graduate experience in an estimating role within a tier 1-3 working across the new build environment
- Successful record in winning tenders to the project value of $5-$30 million
- Energetic, Resilient and can work under pressure in a high volume environment
- Previous experience doing site inspections as you will need to need to inspect site from time to time
- Excellent attention to detail, time management and organisation skills
