Lived Experience Worker- Use your personal experience to provide significant support to both family members and carers and peer workers at Peninsula health.

What You Will Be Doing

As the Senior Family Carer Peer Worker, you will provide 1:1 peer support to family/carers and supports to promote hope, understanding and shared learning. You will also provide lived experience input and expertise within the multidisciplinary team to improve consumer, family/carer and team outcomes. There will be opportunities to participate in the codesign and cofacilitation of peer groups to enchance family/carer wellbeing and support systems. As a Senior Family Carer Peer Worker, you will also provide personalised, day-to-day professional support, reflective practice and lived experience supervision to Family/Carer Peer Workers within the service.

We anticipate you will have:

You will have a Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work and/or relevant welfare qualification, as well as:

  • Personal experience as a family member or carer of a child or adolescent with mental health challenges and recovery
  • Well developed communicaion and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience as a Peer Worker or Peer Practice Supervisor in a mental health setting
  • Understanding of the diversity of cultural, linguistic and gender backgrounds of our community and the impact this has on consumers and their families' experience of mental illness.
  • Understanding of recovery-orientated and trauma-informed practice.

*Please refer to salary circular for Victorian Public Mental Health Services Enterprise Agreement 2020-2024 for salary range. Sub-grading will be based on years of experience.
