Reporting to the Head of Media, the Media Manager plays a critical role in delivering media communication services on behalf of the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing.
You will build a high performing team and manage the media activities of the team reporting to you, while building and maintaining effective professional relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders.
This role will ideally suit a confident professional in leading and delivering media communication with experience in leading a skilled team of professionals. Your critical thinking and problem-solving skills will drive you to manage multiple, high-level and sensitive media issues and implement the best media approach.
The role also provides leadership across the Public Engagement Branch.
As appropriate, they may also be required to provide support to other teams across the Branch as and when required, including participating in out of hours media and emergency rosters, providing support for public emergencies, large-scale communications campaigns and other high priority projects, to contribute the effective management of work across the Branch and department.
ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE
- Lead the team to provide media relations advice, direction and outcomes to a portfolio of internal stakeholders.
- Influence development of media strategies and be responsible for operation and tactical ideas to implement them at senior levels.
- Lead the development, delivery and evaluation of media strategies and deliver or oversee production of relevant materials to support departmental and ministerial media events.
