Our client operates a substantial mixed cattle and cropping operation in central Queensland, located halfway between Rolleston and Injune. The farm covers 5,500 acres of cropping land dedicated to growing wheat, sorghum, and chickpeas, with the remaining land used for grazing 550 head of breeders and progeny.
Position Overview
You will work closely with our client, focusing primarily on the broadacre aspect of the operation. The farm is equipped with modern equipment featuring Greenstar and Trimble technology and is nearly fully set up for controlled traffic. Occasionally, you may be required to assist with cattle work, fence repairs, or water runs. We are seeking someone young or young at heart to work closely with an up-and-coming manager and perform all farming duties.
Daily Responsibilities
- Operate farm equipment with care and responsibility as if you personally paid for it.
- Perform all aspects of broadacre farming, including pre-planting preparation, planting, spraying, and harvesting.
- Conduct regular routine and preventative maintenance on all farm machinery and equipment.
- Carry out repairs and maintenance on farm infrastructure, including fences, water systems, and buildings.
- Work both autonomously and as part of a team, adapting to seasonal demands.

- 9R 540 Horse Power tractor with Greenstar technology
- Case Patriot 4430 with a 36m boom and Trimble technology
- 18m Bose planter with a 12,000L tank
- General farm and station equipment, including a telehandler, bobcat, various implements, and smaller tractors
- 145-tonne mother bin
- 2000-tonne on-farm storage capacity
Ideal Candidate Attributes
- Strong foundation in broadacre cropping (essential)
- Cattle experience (highly regarded but not essential)
- Broad mechanical and fabrication skills (highly regarded)
- Truck license (highly regarded)
- Strong communication skills and team player
- Non-smoker (vaping is acceptable)
