AddressLake Ellen Pastoral is a family owned, mixed farming enterprise of 4800 hectares with a specific focus on Angus cattle production with 1200 breeders. The property also undertakes dryland lucerne seed and cereal crop production.
The Senior Farm Hand is a full time position required to assist the Farm Manager to efficiently implement production plans and assist with daily farm operations which includes livestock husbandry, pasture management, cropping and pasture improvement, property infrastructure maintenance and the maintenance and operation of farm machinery.
The role would best suit someone with a dedication to professional operational and animal welfare standards and who is prepared to make a positive contribution to the on-farm systems and processes. Familiar with or willing to develop skills in low stress stock handling practices.
Requirements:
- Previous agricultural experience, preferably with cattle and cropping.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
- Attention to detail.
- Good communication skills.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Good organisational skills.
- Be reliable, punctual, good work ethic and self motivated.
- Able to work extra hours during peak times throughout the season.
- Familiar with and prepared to fully engage with modern software systems such as AgriWebb.
- Full engagement with Safety Management Systems such as Safe Ag Systems.
- Basic mechanical skills.
