Project Communications Australia (PCA) specialise in integrating the latest communications technology and infrastructure to provide turnkey solutions for Mining, Oil & Gas and Renewables industries.
We are looking for a Senior Field Communications Technician to support and complement our growing team. This position is an important customer facing role involving the deployment of network, entertainment and communications services as well as the support of PCA and other 3rd party camp and mining related technologies.
The position entails both remote onsite and workshop-based tasks as well as the support and supervision of Field Technicians.
Responsibilities will include:
- Supervision of others
- Using design diagrams, determine routing and placement of cabling, fibre and distribution equipment
- Proactively plan and implement design changes to facility services
- Perform physical installation of equipment and components (e.g. cabling, GPON, VAST/MATV, microwave/satellite communication modules, firewall, modems, switches, routers, equipment racks, CCTV.)
- Respond to fault reports, perform trouble shooting activities and repair/replace faulty equipment
- Manage ongoing stock requirements in accordance with project progress.
- Assist with configuration of Switches, Routers and Access Points.
- Assist with the planning and estimation of material requirements for new projects.
- Assist with development and maintenance of facility records.

Required experience:
- 7+ years experience in the telecommunications industry
- Communications Technician Trade qualification or equivalent experience
- Large scale structured cabling experience – 3 years
- Access Point installation, configuration and testing – 2 years
- Competent in ICT and network systems
- Competent with the use of Microsoft suite of applications
- Previous supervisory experience
Any of the following will be highly regarded:
- Broadband, optical fibre and coaxial cabling license
- Information Technology/networking experience or qualification
- Working knowledge of RUCKUS, Cisco Meraki Wi-Fi products
- Experience with Microwave installations (PtP, PtMP)
- Experience with mobile radio installations and commissioning
- Tower or mast installation, rigger qualifications
- Experience working in the Construction and/or Mining industry
- GPON experience
- MATV, RF over fibre experience
- CCTV, access control and security installation experience
- Cell-Fi, mobile antenna system
