Are you an experienced Finance Officer with Local Government experience? Are you looking for a great opportunity to join a close-knit team and contribute to one of Perth's most unique local Councils? Snapshot of duties:
- Assist the Manager of Corporate and Community Services in the financial management of the Local Government.
- Manage financial systems for revenue sources, including rates, grants, and debtors.
- Maintain accurate accounting records and assist in preparing statutory reports, monthly financial statements and the Annual Financial Report as required.
- Oversee monthly bank reconciliations, debtors, creditors, and payroll processing.
- Maintain and balance the general ledger and subsidiary records.
- Assist in preparing the Annual Budget, Corporate Business Plan, and Strategic Community Plan.
- Ensure compliance with legislative requirements and policies.
- Liaise with auditors and enable the implementation of audit recommendations.
- Contribute to the improvement of internal financial processes and systems.
Desired/Required Skills & Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a Finance Officer role in Local Government - required
- A degree/diploma in accounting or a related field - desired
- Demonstrated experience with computer-based systems, including Microsoft Office suite - required
- Experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll & records management - required
- Experience in delivery of revenue services within Local Government, including rates - desired
- Preparation and presentation of financial management reports to council - desired
