About your role:
We are looking for a Senior Financial Accountant to join our Finance Team located in Balcatta. The Senior Financial Accountant is responsible for the accounting and financial activities of the organisation, including financial reporting & compliance functions for multiple business units.
This role will lead the transactional finance team members to ensure that daily transactions & analysis is performed on a timely basis & the organisation is compliant with the latest accounting standards and regulations.
Your duties and responsibilities:
Transactional Duties
- Ensuring key monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting deadlines are achieved.
- Processing all journal entries, reconciling sub-ledgers, and sub-systems (client and customer databases) for each business unit. Including all Balance sheet reconciliations.
- Delivering timely and accurate end to end month end processing, including all journal entries, and reconciliations, including clearing outstanding reconciling items.
- Maintaining Fixed Asset Registers across all business units, account for leased assets, according to the correct accounting and leases standards.
- Reviewing, maintaining, and updating financial records, including general ledger accounts, accounts payable, accounts receivable and any relevant sub leger systems.
- Monitoring outstanding debtors and suppliers
Reporting and Analysis
- Assisting in the preparing of monthly business unit management and board reports, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and ad hoc analysis.
- Analysing financial data and preparing reports/analysis on financial performance, trends, and variance.
- Assisting in the preparation for all the year-end financial audits and reporting requirements and the Annual Financial report.
Team mentoring, support, and leadership
- Monitoring the workload, performance, and productivity of all direct reports.
- Building a strong knowledgeable and high functioning finance team, to accommodate the growth within the organisation.
- Providing day-to-day financial support and leadership to the Finance Team.
Compliance and Regulations
- Ensuring compliance with accounting principles, standards, and regulations.
- The preparation of BAS, PAYG and FBT.
- Assisting in the writing of detailed accounting standard assessment papers for audit and compliance needs.
Process improvement and maintaining financial systems.
- Overseeing and guiding the debt collection best practice process
- Overseeing and guiding the accounts payable and receivable process.
- Identifying process improvements, systems enhancement initiatives and proactively identify new initiatives that could benefit the organisation.
- Assisting in the identifying of new Financial Software systems.
What you’ll need to succeed:
- Highly developed interpersonal skills, with the proven ability to build effective relationships and communicate with a diverse range of people both internal and external.
- Excellent problem solving skills and can work under tight and fixed deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to easily learn new systems and implement new Financial Systems (Desirable)
Essential:
- Bachelor’s in commerce and accounting, (Degree qualified)
- Hold CPA or CA membership or be actively working towards qualification (near completion)
- Demonstrated knowledge of accounting practices and principles
- Ability to prepare technical accounting assessments, including researching and applying new accounting standards applicable within the business.
- Strong experience in medium ERP systems.
- Mentor and lead a small finance team.
